Case Study

Masref Ltd is a London-based fintech company building trust with investors, partners, and clients in a space where credibility is everything. In 2024, they needed a set of executive portraits and press-ready images that would represent their leadership team across every professional touchpoint , from the company website to pitch decks to media enquiries.

The Brief

The company needed corporate headshots and press photography for its leadership team, produced in a single session on location in London. The images had to project authority and approachability in equal measure , polished enough for investor presentations, warm enough for a company website, and high-resolution enough for press reproduction. The visual identity established in this shoot would set the standard for all future team imagery as the company scales.

The Challenge

  • A fintech startup needed portraits that project institutional credibility without losing the energy and approachability that defines early-stage culture
  • Multiple team members had to be photographed in a single session, each portrait feeling individually considered rather than assembly-line
  • The images needed to perform across very different contexts , investor decks, press kits, LinkedIn, the company website , without requiring separate shoots or retouching passes for each
  • On-location shooting meant working with available space and light rather than a controlled studio environment
  • A consistent visual identity had to run across all portraits while allowing each individual's character to come through naturally
  • The shoot needed to establish a repeatable format so new team members can be added in future sessions without breaking visual continuity

The Approach

  • A pre-shoot consultation established the visual tone Masref wanted , confident and contemporary, closer to editorial than to traditional corporate headshot conventions
  • Portable lighting was set up on location to create a consistent, flattering look across all subjects without transforming the workspace into a makeshift studio
  • Each team member was directed individually , posture, eye line, expression , so every portrait carries its own personality within the series
  • The session was structured to move efficiently between subjects, with lighting and framing locked so transitions took minutes rather than lengthy resets
  • Two styles were delivered per subject: a tight headshot for digital profiles and a wider editorial frame for press and presentation use
  • All images were retouched to a natural standard , skin texture preserved, distracting elements removed , and delivered in both high-resolution and web-optimised formats

The Execution

The shoot took place on location at Masref's London workspace. Lighting was built around a single portable setup , clean, directional, consistent across all ten portraits , allowing each team member to step in and out of the frame with minimal downtime between subjects. Direction stayed conversational: a few words to adjust posture and eye line, then space for each person to settle into a natural expression rather than holding a frozen smile. Two framings were captured for every subject , a close headshot and a wider three-quarter portrait , giving the company flexibility across digital profiles, press packs, and investor materials without a second session. Post-production applied a unified colour grade and retouching standard across the full set, keeping skin texture honest while cleaning away distractions. The final delivery included high-resolution files for print and PR, alongside web-ready crops formatted for LinkedIn, the company website, and internal communications.

The Outcome

Masref now holds a complete portrait library for its leadership team , ten subjects, two framings each, all sharing a consistent visual identity that reinforces the company's professional positioning. The images work seamlessly across investor decks, the company website, LinkedIn profiles, and press enquiries without any additional editing. More practically, the shoot established a format and lighting setup that can be repeated for future team members as the company grows, ensuring visual continuity without rebriefing or rebuilding the approach from scratch. For a startup in a trust-dependent industry like fintech, having leadership imagery that looks considered and consistent is not a cosmetic detail , it is a credibility signal that compounds across every professional interaction.
