ADA Partners LLP , Team Headshots
A professional services firm lives or dies on credibility. Nine team portraits, one visual standard, zero room for inconsistency.
Case Study
Professional services firms operate on trust , and trust starts with how the team presents itself. ADA Partners LLP needed headshots that reflected the calibre of the partnership: authoritative, consistent, and immediately credible to clients and counterparties who make judgements before anyone speaks. Nine team members, from senior partners to associates, all photographed to the same exacting standard, with a visual language that says 'we take this seriously' without needing to say it at all.
The Brief
Deliver nine team portraits with absolute visual consistency across the full roster. Every image must meet the same lighting, framing, and tonal standard regardless of the subject's seniority, so the team page reads as a unified firm rather than a collection of individuals. The portraits must function across the firm's website, LinkedIn profiles, pitch documents, regulatory filings, and any context where a professional services partnership needs to look exactly like one.
The Challenge
- Nine team members across different roles and seniority levels must look like they belong to the same firm in every photograph. Visual hierarchy has to come from the firm's own structure, not from inconsistent portrait quality.
- Professional services headshots carry a narrow margin for error. Too stiff and the firm looks unapproachable; too relaxed and it looks unserious. The tone had to project competence and confidence without rigidity.
- Partners and associates have different expectations and different comfort levels in front of a camera. Direction had to adapt to each individual while producing output that looks uniform across the set.
- The portraits will appear in regulatory and compliance contexts alongside client-facing marketing. The same image must satisfy both a creative director and a compliance officer.
- Lighting had to produce consistent, flattering results across nine different skin tones and face structures without relighting between subjects , session efficiency was non-negotiable.
- Each image must survive the full range of corporate formats: circular LinkedIn avatars, rectangular website grids, vertical press columns, and wide pitch deck layouts.
The Approach
- Established a single, controlled lighting setup designed for consistency across multiple subjects , a broad key light with calibrated fill that flatters a range of complexions without requiring adjustment between sittings.
- Used a clean, professional background that aligns with ADA Partners' corporate identity, ensuring every portrait drops into digital and print materials without design intervention.
- Directed each team member through a standardised sequence , brief warm-up conversation, three directed variations, final open frame , so the process was efficient enough to keep the session moving and consistent enough to unify the results.
- Focused on settled, natural expressions rather than held poses. The goal was to capture each person at their most professionally confident , the expression they'd have two minutes into a good meeting, not two seconds into a photograph.
- Shot every frame with crop-safe composition, building in enough negative space to handle circular, square, landscape, and portrait crops from a single master file.
- Delivered the final set with a style specification document , lighting ratios, colour values, framing guidelines , so future hires can be photographed to the same standard and integrated without visual disruption.
The Execution
The session was built for throughput without compromise. Lighting was set, metered, and validated before the first subject arrived , a single setup designed to deliver consistent results across the full team without relighting. Each person received the same structured direction: a short conversation to establish ease, three composed variations that shifted subtly in angle and expression, and a final looser frame that tends to produce the most natural result. The pace stayed brisk , long enough for each subject to settle into the process, short enough that nobody had time to become self-conscious. Post-production applied a uniform colour grade across all nine portraits, ensuring the set functions as a single visual statement. The final delivery was formatted for immediate deployment: website-ready crops, LinkedIn-optimised exports, and high-resolution files for print, each named and tagged for the firm's communications team.
The Outcome
ADA Partners LLP now has a portrait set that matches the professionalism of the firm itself. The nine images function as a unified team page , visually coherent, tonally consistent, and individually distinct enough that each person reads as a real professional rather than a template. The portraits have replaced the patchwork of mismatched headshots that previously represented the firm across digital channels, regulatory submissions, and pitch materials. With a documented style specification in place, every future hire can be photographed to the same standard and integrated into the team page without any visible seam between original and new additions.
