The Brief
Produce multi-format event coverage at The Connaught Hotel , long-form event film, structured interview segments, and editorial photography , all from a single evening. The deliverables had to reinforce LOSAM's premium positioning in the finance sector and serve as a reusable visual foundation across website, social, and stakeholder communications.
The Challenge
- The Connaught imposes strict discretion standards , production equipment and crew had to remain invisible to guests while still capturing broadcast-quality footage.
- Keynote speeches, one-on-one interviews, and candid networking all happened within the same evening, each requiring different camera setups and audio approaches.
- Senior finance executives are not comfortable on camera by default; the interview approach had to extract genuine insight without creating the pressure of a formal sit-down.
- The venue's interior lighting is designed for ambience, not for film , warm, low, and inconsistent , which conflicts with the exposure and colour accuracy that premium video demands.
- Editorial stills and film had to be captured simultaneously by a single production team without either discipline compromising the other.
- Every deliverable had to meet a standard that justifies LOSAM's Mayfair positioning , the visual quality itself is part of the brand message.
The Approach
- Pre-production included a venue recce at The Connaught to map light sources, identify interview positions with clean backgrounds, and plan camera angles that work within the hotel's operational constraints.
- The film crew operated with a minimal visible footprint , compact rigs, no stand lights in guest areas, and repositioning timed to transitions between programme segments.
- Interviews were conducted in a conversational register rather than a formal Q&A format, keeping subjects relaxed and producing responses that sound natural in the final edit.
- Camera settings were tuned for the venue's low ambient light without supplementing it , preserving The Connaught's atmospheric warmth while maintaining clean exposure and accurate skin tones.
- The photographer operated independently from the film crew, moving through the event on a separate rhythm to capture candid editorial moments without waiting for video setups.
- Post-production built a grade that honours the venue's warm palette , no clinical correction, no artificial brightness , then applied it uniformly across film and stills for tonal consistency.
The Execution
The production ran across the full evening at The Connaught, structured around the event's programme. Arrival and reception sequences were captured first, establishing the venue and the calibre of the guest list. Keynote speeches were filmed from fixed positions chosen during the recce to deliver clean sightlines without visible equipment in the audience's field of view. Between programme segments, interview setups ran in a pre-identified quiet corner , lavalier microphones, natural background, conversational direction , producing segments that function as standalone content. The photographer moved independently throughout, capturing networking, dining, and environmental details as editorial stills. Post-production processed the footage into two primary streams: a long-form event film structured around the evening's narrative arc, and a curated editorial photography suite. The colour grade was built from The Connaught's own ambient palette , warm, muted, premium , and applied across all deliverables.
The Outcome
LOSAM received a multi-format asset library that positions the firm as a serious convener in the finance space: event film, interview segments, and editorial photography, all sharing a unified visual identity rooted in The Connaught's own atmosphere. The deliverables serve across website, social channels, and stakeholder-facing communications without requiring additional production, and the reusable nature of the assets means they continue to support future campaigns and briefs. The Mayfair setting and the production standard reinforce each other , the quality of the coverage matches the quality of the venue, which is the point.
