Case Study

Diligent is a global governance technology company that brought together business leaders and industry professionals for an exclusive evening on the Seine , keynote talks, structured networking, and fine dining aboard a private cruise. They needed event coverage that could serve multiple outputs simultaneously: a long-form event film, short-form social content, interview segments, and editorial photography, all produced to a standard that reinforces the brand's premium positioning in the luxury corporate space.

The Brief

Capture the full arc of a one-evening corporate event on a private Seine cruise , from arrival through keynotes, networking, and dining , and deliver a multi-format asset library: long-form event film, short-form social cutdowns, interview segments, and editorial stills. Every asset had to uphold Diligent's premium positioning and serve different audience touchpoints without requiring separate production runs.

The Challenge

  • A moving boat on the Seine means every technical variable , light, sound, stability , changes constantly and cannot be controlled the way a venue on land allows.
  • The event compressed keynotes, interviews, networking, and dining into a single evening, leaving no room for reshoots or dedicated setup windows.
  • Capturing natural networking moments among senior executives requires discretion; visible production equipment changes the behaviour of the subjects it's documenting.
  • Four distinct deliverables , long-form film, short-form social, interviews, and stills , had to be captured simultaneously from a single production team.
  • Sound recording on a boat is compromised by engine vibration, water noise, and wind , every interview and keynote needed clean audio in hostile acoustic conditions.
  • The luxury positioning demands a visual standard that most event coverage doesn't reach; handheld documentary-style footage would undermine the brand.

The Approach

  • Pre-production mapped the entire evening's schedule against the boat's route, identifying the best light windows for each segment , golden hour for arrivals, interior lighting for keynotes, city lights for networking.
  • The crew ran film and stills in parallel throughout, with the photographer operating independently to capture candid editorial moments without disrupting the video setups.
  • Interviews were positioned in the quietest section of the vessel and recorded with lavalier microphones backed by a directional shotgun to isolate voice from engine and ambient noise.
  • Camera movement was stabilised mechanically rather than relying on handheld , gimbal for motion sequences, tripod for static setups , to match the premium visual register Diligent requires.
  • Short-form social content was planned at the scripting stage, not extracted as an afterthought; specific moments were framed for vertical format alongside the primary widescreen capture.
  • Post-production structured the edit around the event's narrative arc rather than chronological order, opening on energy and closing on intimacy to give the film a storytelling shape.

The Execution

Production began before guests boarded , arrival sequences and establishing shots of the boat and Seine captured the setting while the light was still golden. Once underway, the crew split between keynote coverage (stabilised camera, clean audio) and roaming editorial photography, reuniting for structured interview segments in a pre-scouted quiet zone below deck. Networking and dining were covered with a discreet two-operator approach , one on gimbal for motion, one on stills for candid frames , to document genuine interaction without performative awareness. Post-production processed the footage into four deliverable streams: a long-form event film built around narrative arc, short-form vertical cutdowns for social, interview segments as standalone pieces, and a curated editorial photography suite. The colour grade was built warm to match the evening light on the Seine, then applied consistently across all formats.

The Outcome

Diligent received a complete multi-format asset library from a single evening's production: event film, social cutdowns, interview content, and editorial photography , all sharing a unified premium visual identity. The assets serve the brand across website, social channels, stakeholder communications, and future marketing without requiring additional production. The Seine setting and luxury execution reinforce Diligent's positioning in the premium corporate space, and the structured delivery means each piece functions independently while contributing to a cohesive brand narrative.
