Victoria Bhouddhavongs moved from France to London, chose the wrong area, overpaid on rent, then bought a place she regretted. She built The Property Story so nobody else would have to learn London that way. I filmed her telling that story.

About this project

The Property Story is a London property finder. Victoria Bhouddhavongs, its founder and managing director, searches for homes on behalf of international executives and families who are relocating to London or buying here, and stays with them until the keys are in their hand. Most of her future clients have never met her. They find her on Instagram, often from another country, and decide from a phone screen whether she is the person they want next to them for one of the biggest decisions of their lives. So the brief was simple to say and hard to do: let people meet Victoria before they meet her. Her own guide for the day put it better than I could: they should feel her energy first, understand her expertise second, and discover the service third. Nothing salesy. Her clients are discreet people and so is she.

The Brief

Four vertical reels for Instagram and a longer landscape film from a single studio session, subtitled, in The Property Story's own colours and typefaces.

The Challenge

  • Victoria is warm and quick, with a dry sense of humour ("So I paid for my London education, rather generously"). That kind of line dies if the edit rushes it or if the person looks like they are reading. She wanted to work from a teleprompter, with 26 questions in four blocks plus a rapid-fire round, which meant three hours of material had to come down to reels of under a minute without losing the pauses that make her funny.
  • The property side was harder. Clients come to her for the neighbourhood as much as the house, and you cannot show that from a chair in a studio.

The Approach

  • We filmed on 29 September 2026 in my studio in Islington, set up like a living room rather than a studio: leather armchair, a big cream sofa, plants, a lamp left on. Three cameras ran the whole time, a 50 mm wide shot for the long film, an 85 mm close shot framed for vertical crops, and a third angle for movement, with a lavalier mic on Victoria and the teleprompter under the lens so her eyes stay on the viewer. She changed outfits twice (navy blazer, silk scarf, green blazer), so every reel could later exist in two looks.
  • For the neighbourhoods I used what Victoria already had: years of phone footage from her own viewings and walks around Notting Hill, Richmond, Chelsea and the City. I went through 346 clips and cut them under her words. When she says "a beautiful kitchen can be terribly persuasive" you see a kitchen; when she says "you can't move the street" you see the street.

The Execution

Edited in DaVinci Resolve on a synced three-camera multicam, graded from S-Log3. Each reel opens on a full-screen question card in her brand typeface, IvyPresto, on her off-white, and Victoria answers. Subtitles are set in Inter, the font her brand guide recommends for video, and the end card is her logo, animated so that "Story" writes itself in. Music and room tone sit under the voice, mixed to Instagram loudness. Nine days after the shoot she had four reels in two wardrobe versions each, plus a first cut of the long film.

The Outcome

The first reel went live on The Property Story's Instagram on 12 October, four days after delivery, introducing Victoria to her audience as the founder. The rapid-fire reel followed on 14 October and "What does moving country actually feel like?" on 18 October. The fourth reel, the long film and a series of short clips with her partners (architects, builders, a luxury concierge) are still to come, along with an afternoon of fresh B-roll in the neighbourhoods she knows best.

Deliverables

  • Studio interview, three cameras, teleprompter and lavalier sound
  • 4 vertical reels (9:16), subtitled, each in two wardrobe versions
  • 1 long-form landscape film (16:9), subtitled
  • Question cards, subtitles and animated logo end card in the client's brand typefaces
  • B-roll edit from 346 of the client's own neighbourhood and viewing clips
